Who We Are ?
Empowering learners with disabilities to reach their full potential.
Filadelfia Secondary School started in 1985, with Mr J.J. Bornman as the first Principal and 130 pupils. This is really a place here brotherly love exists and a place where doors are opened to the disabled learner in South Africa.
Filadelfia is the only secondary school of its kind in Gauteng, unique in the diversity of disabilities for which it caters and drawing learners from all nine provinces of South Africa.
Situated in Soshanguve north of Pretoria, the school currently house a total of 194 learners – comprising totally blind, partially sighted, hearing impaired and physically disabled. The majority are drawn from low-income families and no child is turned away on the grounds of insufficient finance.
The school follows the national CAPS curriculum and offer five fields of study – namely Natural Science, Commerce, Technical, Social Sciences and General. We were granted permission by the department to introduce fields in the Technical Occupational Curriculum and will implement this in January 2026.
